The Makings of a Hufflepuff

Abi wants to be a Hufflepuff this year.

I couldn’t find a tie or little preppy skirt, so I got to improvise, which is, of course, my favorite thing.

Yellow fabric and black paint made the stripes for the tie.

A plaid shirt from the thrift store was easily dismantled and sewn into a cute pleated skirt.

Walmart had a lovely witchy hat...

And the ensemble is coming together! Stay tuned for finished pictures in a few days.

Braille is BIG

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, hot off the embosser, makes a stack about twice as high as my coffee cup.

Then, bound into five volumes.

Then, it joins our Braille library up in the school room. :)

On The Go

I made this today with items from my craft room:

On the go writing board. Velcro stuck to a clip board keeps (old) iPhone or iPad mini, Refreshabraille keyboard and Braille display, slate an stylus. Charging cables clipped to the back. Neck strap for easy carrying.

Punky Carving

For the first time, there was no adult help needed. And great was the rejoicing.

Respite

Every once in a while, a day or two by myself in the woods is perfect for rejuvenating.

Teaching Accessibility

Last week I went into Abi's fourth grade class to let them try out some of her tools, namely the Brailler and cane. They had a ball! I hope their takeaway is that using the right tools, blindness doesn't have to be a barrier to learning!!

Chemistry

Little Mister and Daddy have been doing a middle school chemistry class. Last week they did experiments with dry ice. This week, fuses and gunpowder! Hey, who says science can't be fun??

Practicing Grand Jeté

And just for fun, doing headstands and handstands.

Also, a pic of her class last July. Mostly for me to remember.
