Although I don't set out to look for shows that involve adoptive families, it's natural that we notice when they come along. Dinosaur Train on PBS Kids is one such show where the main character is an adopted child who doesn't "match." Despite this, the plots don't revolve around this detail, nor are the characters given to over analysis or angst about it. I think I appreciate the writers even more for that. The subtle message that it's ok to look different is much appreciated in families like ours!
