We planned to go to Elk Creek Falls and go hiking this morning. Although it was raining, we hopefully drove the hour or so to Elk Creek. When we got there, it began absolutely dumping.
So, instead of hiking, we drove around exploring the area. We found a lovely picnic shelter with a fireplace and spent half an hour playing in it, building a fire, and examining a snail that was sorry he had the misfortune to meet four small, curious children.

Running Together. (Yes, her shirt says "SKYY." She picked it out at the thrift store because it looked cool. Hubby later informed me that it's a brand of vodka. Oh well.)

Proof that Mommy was there too.
In the spirit of adventure, We decided to eat lunch at the Log Inn, a local greasy spoon place. Unfortunately, the food wasn't very good, and quite overpriced. Next time, we'll head to the rural cafe in Helmer, where we've eaten before. The food there is fantastic, and the lady who runs it is really nice.
The Log Inn, where, as Hubby says, you can't log in because there is no Internet.
Miss Chatterbox
Almost missed it, but the Clearwater County Ambulance is parked just behind my handsome Hubby's chin.
As we pulled into our driveway about one o'clock, the clouds broke, the rain stopped, and the sun came out. This afternoon, the lovely sunshine and gentle breezes would make perfect hiking weather, but the Littles are napping. So it goes. Spring weather in Idaho is capricious.
I actually enjoyed exploring just as much as I would have enjoyed a hike, with the exception of wishing I'd gotten some exercise. Still, it was a fun family morning anyway.
